This seminar aims to provide a general overview of insurance contracts in Hong Kong and some of the issues that insurers may face. With the onset of COVID-19 pandemic, we will explore how legal contracts have been impacted and some of the new ways of working within the insurance industry, such as using virtual means, to ensure legal and regulatory requirements are met. Given the close proximity with Mainland China, we will also discuss some of the challenges and potential issues that may occur when dealing with such cross-border matters.

Michael Ting is the Vice President, Chief Legal and Compliance Officer of Manulife (International) Limited responsible for all the legal and compliance matters in relation to the insurance and retirement business in Hong Kong. Before Michael joined Manulife, he worked at Asurion Asia Pacific. Michael has over 20 years of solid legal and compliance experience, and he is a Hong Kong, UK and US qualified lawyer. Michael has a strong compliance background and held various senior legal/compliance positions in life firms including Sunlife, New York Life and MassMutual Asia.
