The Institute has been working in cooperation with other professional bodies in the further promotion of the use and knowledge of arbitration and ADR. On 7 September 2002, the Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators, together with the Law Society of Hong Kong, and the Hong Kong Bar Association, jointly organised a training programme on arbitration law and practice for practitioners. The speakers included The Honourable Mr. Justice Geoffrey Ma, Teresa Cheng SC, Sally Harpole, Philip Nunn, Anthony Houghton and Philip Yang. The workshop was well attended with a balanced blending of lawyers and non-lawyers. Recent developments on appeal against awards, appointment of arbitrators, interlocutorics and the conduct of the hearing were reviewed. These were accompanied by a lively exchange of discussions.
