The delegation from HKIArb participated the International Arbitration Conference Brunei and the 2nd Regional Arbitral Institutes Forum Conference which was successfully held at Brunei on 16-17 August 2008. The conference was hosted by the Arbitration Association of Brunei Darussalam (AABD) and was participated by over arbitration practitioners from various jurisdictions. The opportunity was also taken by HKIArb and AABD to sign a cooperation agreement for closer exchange and co-operation over arbitration matters.

The Brunei conference was held after the 1st RAIF which was successfully held in Singapore in 2007, where arbitral institutes in the region formally came together and founded the Regional Arbitral Institutes Forum. These institutes included the Malaysian Institute of Arbitrators (MIArb), Badan Arbitrase Nasional Indonesia (BANI), the Institute of Arbitrators & Mediators Australia (IAMA), Singapore Institute of Arbitrators (SIArb), the Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators (HKIArb) and the Singapore International Arbitration Centre. The 3rd RAIF Conference to be held in 2009 will be hosted by the HKIArb.
