Beijing Visit by Delegation of Hong Kong Arbitration and Mediation Practitioners
on 22-24 April 2007

 

The delegation of Hong Kong Arbitration and Mediation Practitioners, organized by the Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators, visited Beijing on 22-24 April 2007.

During the visit, the delegation met with various officials and entered into informative discussion with them. These include Mr. Wan Exiang, the Vice President of The Supreme People’s Court; Mr. Wang Shengming, the Deputy Director of Commission of Legislative Affairs, Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress; Mr. Zhang Yong, the Director General of the Department of General Affairs Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office State Council; and Mr. Lou Zhihao, the Vice Minister of United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee

Of course, the delegation also met with Mr. Yu Jianlong, the Vice Chairman of the CIETAC and Ms. Wang Hongsong, the Secretary General of the Beijing Arbitration Commission during the visit. The delegation was also supported by the participation of the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre, the Hong Kong Mediation Centre and the Chartered Instituted of Arbitrator (East Asia Branch), with representatives joining the visit.

Mr. Gary Soo, President of HKIArb, remarked that this was a fruitful and productive exchange and it helped enhancing further ties and understanding between Mainland China and Hong Kong for mutual gains in relation to the use and promotion of arbitration and mediation in the region.
