The conference on "Cooperation and Development: Arbitration Institutions in Greater China" was successfully held at Shenzhen Shangri-La Hotel on 26 May 2006 by Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators. The Institute would like to thank all who came from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau and other places of Mainland China and the support of all arbitral institutions and the community.
Participating bodies included Beijing Arbitration Commission, Shanghai Arbitration Commission, CIETAC S.C., Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre, Arbitration Association of China (Taiwan), Wuhan Arbitration Commission, Dalian Arbitration Commission, Dalian Mediation Centre, China Maritime Arbitration Commission, Taipei Municipal University of Education, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Huizhou Arbitration Commission, Shenyang Arbitration Commission, Qinzhou Arbitration Commission, Shenzhen Arbitration Commission, World Trade Center Macau, Macau Voluntary Arbitration Centre and Hong Kong Mediation Centre.

The President of the Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators noted at the conference that Hong Kong has many lawyers familiar in Chinese and English and the internationally well-known arbitrators that provide various arbitration and dispute resolution services. With their understanding in Mainland condition market operation, Hong Kong's geographical position, the domestic and foreign cultures and the language connection, for the Asian and Pacific area, Hong Kong really would be a good platform for international and regional arbitration and dispute resolution services.
Through this conference, everybody contributed to further understanding with each other, building up relationships, and be brought up-to-date with some of the newest arbitration views and experience sharing.
